Success as a real estate agent depends on several things, in particular..."word-of-mouth".  Here's a small idea to add some extra appeal with clients: upon selling a home, give your client a personal gift folder that relates to the area they recently moved.  A folder that includes discount coupons, ads, brochures, information on everything from local restaurants, schools, parks, doctors, dentists, retailers, maybe driving directions, upcoming local events, etc, etc..  This does take some work and time on your part.  However, when approached, most businesses should be willing to offer you things to give (as long as they know your an agent, and related to potential new customers in the area.)  Also, individualize these gifts (without getting too personal), and relate them to information you learned in casual conversation during the time spent with your clients: their jobs, their children, their pets, hobbies and interests, etc, etc..  And if they were happy with you as an agent, this simple gift adds an extra incentive to lead clients toward recommending your real estate services to others.
